Uphill, downhill or flat, the new C50 is the all-rounder of the new ULTEGRA R8170 wheel line. The tubeless carbon rim has an internal width of 21mm, ideal for wider, more modern tyres, while the HYPERGLIDE cassette body is compatible with 11 and 12s cassettes. With the Shimano Ultegra R8170 C50 road bike wheelset for disc brakes, you get a wheelset with a good balance between aerodynamics, stiffness and weight. Ultegra R8170 wheels have similar aerodynamic properties to Dura Ace R9270 wheels. This is due in part to the rim profile of 21mm inside and a 28mm outside width. In this way it is possible to fit tires from 28 mm to 62 mm. The spokes and spoke pattern are reinforced to increase stiffness under acceleration. This makes the wheels about 9% stiffer than a Dura Ace 9170 C40 wheelset.
