What are the benefits of cycling?
It is said that cycling works 206 bones and 600 muscles. Cycling strengthens leg, gluteal and calf muscles, improves lung function, digestion and sleep, builds endurance and coordination, and reduces stress. Among other things, this sport protects against osteochondrosis, Parkinson's disease, joint diseases, and has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system and brain function. In addition, it is an excellent way to get rid of overweight or unnecessary kilograms. And there are countless other health benefits! Cycling is not only good for your health, it's also good for nature. It is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective means of transport - no air pollution, low running costs, no need to park in traffic jams and no parking problems.
Which bike to choose?
There are many different types of bicycles, suitable for different surfaces and interests. To make sure it suits your needs and is comfortable, it is important to know the main differences between the different types of bicycles. Types of bikes include: mountain (MTB), hybrid (Cross), urban, touring, folding, road, Cyclocross/Gravel, BMX, DIRT, FAT bike, electric, children's.
Mountain (MTB) bikes
This is by far the most popular type of bike. MTBs are designed for riding on mountainous and rugged terrain, rough roads, dirt, gravel, sand, forest trails and off-road. They have a better grip, are more manoeuvrable, have thick, rough-tread tyres, a narrower seat and straighter handlebars. Mountain bikes have a higher gear ratio (from 21 to 30), which makes it easier to overcome obstacles, and a shock-absorbing hardtail fork, which makes descending downhill more comfortable. Of course, MTBs can have either no suspension (Rigid) or full suspension (Full suspension). Mountain bike wheels come in 26", 27.5" and 29" sizes. If you are interested in economical bikes, it may be cheaper to choose a mountain bike with a simpler set-up. Our range includes mountain bikes from Merida, Unibike, Romet and other manufacturers.
Hybrid (Cross) bikes
This type of bike is a lighter version of an MTB. One of the biggest advantages of this type of bike is its versatility. With medium-width tyres with medium-depth tread, they can be ridden on any road surface, from asphalt to forest tracks or gravel roads. The hybrid bike is suitable for people who want to be active, do light exercise or use it as a means of transport. Hybrids have a versatile frame geometry, so they can be ridden over longer distances. Like MTBs, hybrids are usually equipped with a shock absorbing fork and are increasingly equipped with disc brakes. Cross bikes usually come with 28" wheels, a lighter frame than an MTB, and a high gear ratio, which allows them to reach higher speeds on smooth surfaces and show power when going uphill. Our range of hybrid bikes ranges from the world-famous Merida, Unibike, Romet to hybrid bikes from other manufacturers.
City (also known as classic) bicycles
These are bicycles for women and men, designed for comfortable short-distance riding on hard roads. They are particularly popular for their comfort and reliability. They are cheap because they are easy to assemble. Women's bikes have a low bottom section to avoid having to lift the leg high, while men's bikes have a tube at the top of the frame. Both men's and women's city bikes have medium-width, fine-tread tyres and, depending on the height of the person, can be fitted with 26“ or 28” wheels. City bikes usually come with a range of accessories: lamps, carrier, bell, basket, mudguards, chain guard, kickstand. For a comfortable ride, city bikes have a soft, wider saddle with springs and are usually available without gears or with 3, 7 internal gears. Bikko.bike bike shop can offer city bikes from Unibike, Romet, Azimut and other manufacturers.
Touring Bikes (ATBs)
Comfortable and versatile for both short and longer trips. Like hybrids, these bikes can be ridden on hard surfaces (asphalt, gravel) and forest tracks. Touring bikes are usually equipped with a shock-absorbing front fork and 28" medium width tyres with medium tread depth. They also have a high gear ratio and come with a luggage carrier, front and rear lamps, kickstand, mudguards and dynamo. Our touring bike manufacturers include Merida, Romet, Unibike.

Folding bikes
This is the perfect choice for those who want to keep their bike close at hand. They are easy to transport on the go (on the plane, in the boot of the car). They are the perfect choice for those who live in a multi-storey house (we can easily carry them up the stairs) or who have little space at home: thanks to their design, folding bikes do not require much space and can be conveniently stored on a balcony, in a wardrobe, or at the workplace. Unlike other types of bicycles, folding bicycles are designed to be quickly and easily folded. They are usually available with 20“, 24” wheels and medium width tyres with medium tread depth for hard surface riding. Folding bikes can be available without gears, with 3 or 7 or 8 internal gears. Bikko.bike shop can offer folding bikes from Romet, Azimut and other manufacturers.
Road (road, racing) bikes
They are more suited to athletes (often professionals) for racing or for fast and longer rides on asphalt (road, cycle path). They are characterised by their low weight, very narrow 28" tyres without tread, and are often made of carbon fibre (carbon), which significantly reduces the weight of the bike. The equipment and aerodynamic seating of these bikes allow for high speeds on the highway. Due to its characteristics, this “road bike” is not intended for everyday riding. We can offer Merida, Unibike and Romet road bikes.
Cyclocross / Gravel bikes
Similar in appearance to road bikes. The main difference from a road bike is the wheels. Cyclocross are designed for a wide range of road conditions: off-road, forest tracks, gravel, poor wet roads, etc. For this reason, the Cyclocross has wider, off-road tyres with deeper tread and a slightly wider frame fork. The key difference between Cyclocross and Gravel bikes is ride comfort. The Cyclocross is more of a sporty, competition bike, while the Gravel is a touring, leisure bike for all kinds of rides. The Gravel is also more suited to fitting a variety of gear for long trips. We can offer Merida, Romet Cyclocross / Gravel bikes.
BMX bikes
Designed to perform a wide range of acrobatic stunts on specially adapted sites and in the city (ramps, bridges, etc.). BMXs have a specific appearance: low geometry and low saddle, rigid front fork, pegs, high raised and reinforced handlebars, frame and rims. The BMX comes with thick 20" tyres to absorb the shock of jumping over obstacles. Our BMX bike manufacturer is S'COOL.
Dirt bikes are a type of BMX bicycle. They also have a lower frame geometry, a low seat, thick tyres with reinforced rims to cushion the impact of the descent, but no rear shock absorber.
Fat Bikes
They are designed for riding on snow, mud, sand, viscous trails or difficult off-road. The exclusive component of these bikes is the custom, extra-wide 26" tyre, which increases off-road handling, grip and shock absorption on any terrain. The thick tyres prevent slipping on wet road surfaces and the absorption of bumps makes this bike more comfortable. We can offer fat bikes on request from manufacturers.
Electric bikes
Electric bikes (e-bikes) are a great alternative to a conventional bicycle, car or public transport. It can be ridden for long and short distances, either with the help of a battery or by pedaling on your own like a normal bicycle. It can be a good solution for elderly people or those suffering from joint pain who want to reduce the strain on their legs. The battery of an electric bike is usually sufficient for 100 kilometres or more, and is also ideal for weekend rides in town, in the park, in the countryside or other areas. It's the perfect choice for those who want to experience the pleasure of cycling without the effort.
Children bikes
Designed for the smallest cyclists. Bicycles for girls, boys are selected according to the age and height of the child. As it may be too difficult for the very youngest cyclists to pedal on their first bike, it is recommended to choose a balance bike at first. Later on, depending on height, 12“, 14”, 16“, 18”, 20“ and 24” wheels are available. Smaller wheel sizes often come with assist wheels and/or an assist handle to help you learn to control the bike on your own. Children's bikes are colourful and come with a range of accessories to make cycling fun and exciting. We can offer a wide range of children's bikes from Merida, Puky to Romet, Unibike, Karbon and more.
